Clio Artist Spotlight: Amanda Wall

Artist Amanda Wall in front of her artwork at Clio Art Fair's 17th Edition, September 5-8, 2024

Intentionally intimate in scale, Wall’s current series reflects the subconscious representation of her, in the moment, psychological state. In trance thinking, both intuition and intellect collaborate. Ideas incubate through light, frenetic sketches in the form of automatism. The process of editing thoughts and emotions creatively is as important as the painting itself. The alchemy of sketch and a fluid transformation of imagery on canvas, evolve into mirages of the mind. These mirages do not exist, therefore giving them license to be playful and whimsical. Simultaneously, they allude to a sinister quirkiness. Dark and light are the opposing forces of life. The coexistence is a complex, confusing, unique type of beauty.
