Clio Artist Spotlight: d. r. jones

d. r. jones

«For me, art is an attempt to communicate. Georgia O’Keefe, the iconic Southwest artist, once said “I found I could say things with color and shapes that I couldn’t say any other way - things I had no words for”. Each painting I do is an attempt to share a feeling or communicate a story using color and form instead of words.»

d. r. jones has showcased his work in the past Clio Art Fair 16th edition in May 2-5, 2024. Here is our short interview with the artist!

d. r. jones, can you please describe your art in four words?

Colorful, intense, emotional, narrative.

What inspires your art?

I am inspired by personalities that live life with purpose. Sometimes this clarity of purpose can translate to success in art or music or social influence. Sometimes it translates to a secure sense of self awareness, a sense of being sufficient unto themselves. People who are fully present in the world inspire me. That is what I try to communicate in my work.

How would you describe your experience at Clio Art Fair?

My involvement with Clio Art Fair was delightful; from pre-show guidance for show preparation, to help with shipping and installation, to end-of-show pack up. And the location was excellent! The venue was right in the middle of the Chelsea art district. Amazing!
